High altitude survival was required to reach the 2025 Copa Colsanitas Zurich title decider.
For Colombian star and defending champion Camila Osorio (WTA #54), a third career final in Bogotá — at 2,640 meters/8,660 ft, the highest stop on the WTA Tour — looked like an afterthought during her second round match when Emina Bektas built a 6-1, 5-3 lead and reached match point in the following game.
But Osorio held her nerve to save it (see video below), completed a 1-6, 7-6 [7:5], 6-2 comeback win and followed it up with a pair of straight-sets triumphs that extended her unbeaten run at the event to 9 matches.

In the second round, just like Osorio, qualifier Katarzyna Kawa (WTA #223) also lost the first set by 1-6 and was within a point of defeat to Laura Pigossi when serving at 4-5 in the second set.
Kawa saved it hitting only a serve (see video above), but there was nothing easy or short about her whole week in Colombia.
For starters, the Pole spent 7h10 on court just to get through qualifying, including 4h13(!!) to win the final qualifying round. Then she had to fight from a set down in consecutive main draw matches against Pigossi and top-seed Marie Bouzkova, each approaching 3 hours. As if that wasn’t enough, Kawa’s quarters and semis were both delayed by rain.
In total, Kawa needed 15h47 of on-court time, plus several hours hanging around while waiting for the rain to stop, to reach her second Tour final and first since 2019.
Kawa’s marathon matches
2h57 vs Gergana Topalova in qualy round 1
4h13 vs Patricia Maria Tig in final qualy round
2h47 vs Laura Pigossi in round 2
2h44 vs Marie Bouzkova in quarters
15h47 in 6 matches to reach Bogotá final
At age 32, Kawa wasn’t saving anything in her chase for a maiden title on the WTA Tour.
But how much did she have left in the tank for the Copa Colsanitas Zurich final?
